Tuning in to SciFi TV #107 – Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Nov 05, 2010 4 Comments by

Regular listeners know we love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Kevin sat down with Kim from Upside Down and Halfway to Happyland, Stephanie from PotentialCast and Bryan from The Hellmouth Podcast for a special Buffy-themed episode of Tuning In To Scifi TV.

The first portion of the show, up to the 21:45 mark, is newbie friendly and spoiler free as we share why Buffy is a special show and why you might enjoy it.

In the second portion of the show we discuss all things Buffy - the episodes, the characters and the story lines.

To interest folks in Buffy, all four podcasts are collaborating on a DVD giveaway. One listener can win a copy of Buffy The Vampire Slayer – The Complete Series on DVD. You’ll need the ‘code phrase’ that we give out in the spoiler free portion of our discussion to enter to win the contest. It’s a random drawing available to US residents. Check out our blog post here for all the Buffy DVD contest details.

Please remember, if you don’t want to be spoiled about Buffy, just stop listening at the 21:45 mark of the podcast.

Season 6 of Buffy, season 3 of Angel, and Firefly first aired in the fall of 2001. I believe Buffy premiered as a mid-season replacement at the beginning of 1997.

Just want to say i really enjoyed your discussion. On numerous occasions i found myself agreeing with people when they said they were moved by a particular episode. Also the comment that “watching Buffy is like being with friends” is something i wholeheartedly agree with.

Awesome podcast, thanks for sharing it.

  3. Zack says:

Pretty cool guys. I more or less agree with most of what was said.

Also…you all know Buffy’s storyline has been officially extended and continued (by Whedon himself), from the last episode of season 7?

It’s in comic book form, and is called Buffy season 8. It’s really great. Feels just like the show did, when reading it. And like I said, it’s being created by Whedon himself. Anyway, check it out if you haven’t already. That was the only downside of your podcast…that you didn’t mention anything from season 8.

  4. Brent says:

Thanks, Zack. Yes, we’re all well aware of season 8 and enjoying it. :-) I think the focus of this discussion was the television show itself, however.
