Our next vintage title on Saturday B Movie Reel will be the Joe Dante directed and Roger Corman produced 1978 title Piranha.

The tag line for this film was…

Lost River Lake was a thriving resort until they discovered…Piranha!

This camp classic was an homage to Jaws and came out around the same time as several other well known killer creature movies as Grizzly, Tintorera, Tentacles, Orca, Monster Shark and Great White.

Don’t make any New Year’s plans just yet because according to the next Syfy original movie we might not make it that far! Up next on December 17th is Earth’s Final Hours.

It’s about time we got a snowstorm based disaster movie! On December 10th Syfy gives us Snowmageddon.

Here’s the description…

When the Miller family discovers a mysterious gift outside their home on Christmas eve, they could never imagine it would contain the power to doom their idyllic mountain community. It’s time for a man made disaster movie on November 26th on Syfy when we get Storm War (aka Weather Wars).

Here’s the description…

A series of freak weather occurrences around Washington D.C. reunites two estranged brothers who are the sons of a once prestigious climate scientist.

One of the brothers suspects their father is behind the weather disturbances and upon further investigation, they discover that all of their father’s enemies are dead – victims of freak weather accidents.

As the brothers race to form a plan that can defeat their father, he lets loose a variety of diabolical weather weapons on the Smithsonian, Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, and National Mall!

Cast includes Jason London, Wes Brown, Erin Cahill, Stacy Keach, Stanton Barrett, Jesse De Luna, Miles Doleac and Gary Grubbs.
