...is this a question about modifying ourselves with methods (kind-of) available or wishing we were Superman with X-ray vision ?  :)

That's up to you.  I didn't mention powers gained through means other than by technology.  So you're still human with technology added.   Batman for example.

I didn't ask the question about what you might be if other than a human - say if you get your X-Ray vision by becoming another species (Superman was an alien), or get bit by a werewolf or vampire or spider, that to me is different kind of modification than through technology (though blurry), but it seems fair game for the discussion too.

...i would like to have the ability to tell if someone was lying or not..not the "do these pants make me look fat" kind, but the lies that would have unfortunate consequences for myself and those i care about...

...also i would like to fly...( well, hover quickly as those silly wings would get in the way  ;D )

I've always thought that true telekinesis would be fun to have.   You could make sure you always win at roulette, you could make sure that your golf shots always go where you want them to go.

Of course what I would really like is an easy way to lose weight that doesn't cost a fortune and it medically safe.   Right now the answer is exercise more, eat less and do it for the rest of your life.

As you can tell from my photo, I struggle with that...
May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

We talked about this on the show too, and I don't want to be modified human with technology, but superpowers would be OK.

I think I'd like the 'I Dream of Genie Blink' teleportation ability.  Close my eyes and blink and appear wherever I wanted.

And maybe the 'truth telling' ability. I wouldn't want to read people's thoughts directly, that would drive me insane, but being able to sort of 'interrogate them' similar to the Confessor on Legend of the Seeker to find out what people are really meaning/intending would come in handy.

....Or, turning into a cat or dog whenever I felt like it.   :D

The best implementation of humans modified by technology I've seen is in the Ghost in the Shell movies and television series.  Cyborgs and modified humans are commonplace.  Almost everyone is augmented with a "cyberbrain" device when young.  The only visible marker is a data port on the back of someone's neck.   It allows individuals to access the internet and communication with others mentally.  Some individuals can communicate wirelessly.  Kind of like a technological telepathy.  So along with cybernetically enhanced eyes for heads up display of data, I would not mind being modified in this way.

Of course, there is a downside and the television series covers that as well.  Cyberbrain enhancement is such a societal norm in this world, that individuals who don't have the procedure done for whatever reason live at a social and economic disadvantage.  There is also a tiny percentage of individuals who suffer from cybernetic "diseases" from the merger.  And there is the risk of a cyber-terrorist hacking into your brain.  But if your cyberbrain is running OS X instead of Vista I'm sure you would be fine. :)
